GTA 6 Mapping Project

The GTA 6 mapping project is the fan effort behind the full map of Leonida. Led by Yanis, its contributors measure coastlines, roads and buildings from official trailers and screenshots, then fit them together into one map. The current version is V17, and it is the base of our interactive GTA 6 map.

What the GTA 6 mapping project is

The project began charting Leonida from Rockstar’s first screenshots and trailers, then filled in highways, buildings and landmarks as more footage appeared (Notebookcheck). Its public home is State of Leonida, which links to the GTADB landmarks map and the mapping community’s Discord. GTADB publishes the map and landmark data under CC BY 4.0, which is how this site can show them with credit.

What is new on the map

The landmark data keeps moving between map versions. The October 30 update added 19 places and renamed 8, including The Old Mill, Trotman’s Supermarket, Jacob’s Tavern and Reynold’s Pharmacy in Millport, lifeguard towers on Vice Beach, and more named turns at Gellhorn International Raceway. All of them are on our GTA 6 map.

How the mapping project measures Leonida

Mappers find a building or road in a shot, match it to other shots from different angles, then fit it onto the map. Real-world references help, because many places are modelled on real Florida buildings. Since version 16 the overall outline has also been checked against the leaked map image.

How accurate is the GTA 6 mapping project?

Accurate on the big picture, rougher in the details. The coastline and Vice City are the most reliable because they appear in the most footage. Inland streets, interiors and small place names rest on fewer shots. It is a community estimate, not Rockstar’s map, which is why our map labels every place as Official or Community.

How this site uses the mapping project

We serve the map tiles and landmark data from our own domain, as the GTADB author asks, and credit them on every page. On top we add a layer of places Rockstar has confirmed, each with its source, plus search and a free tracker. See how we source places.
